The fall of 2016 marked a turning point in California's landmark effort to change how to finance, govern and evaluate schools. The State Board of Education has adopted a new district and school improvement system that will move from test-score based accountability to a more comprehensive method measuring college and career readiness, school climate, academic achievement, parent involvement and other factors.
In our 2016 Symposium, "Making it Work: Implementing California's New Vision for School Success," EdSource offered a timely, in-depth look at the new system and examine implications for student equity and success. Attendees left with need-to-know information about the changes in measuring school progress and about how emerging forms of personalized learning and assessment could revolutionize education.
